Alder, Warwick (Alan)

Alder, Warwick (Alan), trumpet, flugelhorn; b. Newcastle, Australia 26 November 1959. Began in high school jazz group. Studied jazz in Newcastle with the noted American saxophonist Dave Van Kriedt. Came to Sydney and commenced jazz studies at the Sydney Conservatorium, graduating with honours in 1981. In 1986, he toured Australia and the USA with the Australian Jazz Orchestra. Currently involved in jazz education in schools. Has played with big bands and modern groups and is featured on several recordings most notably with The Engine Room, Now's The Time, James Morrison and the Bob Bertles Quintet.

Also works in John Pochee's band Ten Part Invention since its founding in 1986.
