Alexandrov, Alexandr (Alekseyevich Alexandrov)
Alexandrov, Alexandr (Alekseyevich Alexandrov) , bassoonist, composer; b. Lennigrad 28 November 1957. Both parents are professional musicians. His father is Aleksey Grigoryevich Alexandrov, b.11.2.1925 in Leningrad, tenor. His mother is Yekaterina Alexandrovna Alexandrova, b. 20.1.1931 in Moscow, soprano. Alexanr studied bassoon under prof.Oleg Talypin in Musical College of Modest Mussorgsky (degree:BA in Music,1979), under prof. Grigoriy Eremkin in St.Peterburg State Conservatory (degree: MA in Music,1985).
From 1975-1985, he worked as bassoonist in several symphony, opera and chamber orchestras (Leningrad Conservatory Symphony orchestra, State Kirov Opera & Ballet Theater, Old & Contemporary Music Chamber orchestra...). Also playing in modern music, rock and jazz formations: rock group "Aquarium" (1976-1980), "Modern Jazz Trio" (1980-1984, with Sergey Kuryokhin and Anatoly Vapirov), the early music ensemble Musica Practica (1984-1985) and the duo "Renaissance." Since 1989, he's performed with the Ensemble of Intuitive Music "Tri-"O" with Sergey Letov, Arkadij Kirichenko, then Arkadyj Shilkloper and now Youri Parfyonov, Moscow Composers Orchestra (lead. Vladimir Miller), Black Sea Art Orchestra (lead. Okay Temiz), Embryo Collective (lead. Christian Burchard) and other projects. He's done touring on jazz festivals all over Europe and America, participating in jazz festivals in Russia, Europe and USA: Italy (Noci, Bolzano, Milano), Switzerland (Zurich, Bern ), Austria (Ulrichsberg, Wien, Graz), Finland (Oulu, Tampere), Germany (Berlin, Cologne, Munster, Kassel, Selzau, Nurnberg, Munchen), USA (Seattle, N.Y.), England (London), Turkey (Istanbul, Ankara),France (Compiegne, Arles), Portugal (Lissabon). Playing at such clubs as Knitting Factory(N.Y.), Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Porgy & Bess (Wien), Fabrik (Hamburg), Rote Fabrik , Moods(Zurich. Subsequently joining the Moscow Composers Orchestra.
Married since 1995 with german slavist Barbara Alexandrova and living since then in Munich.
Solo projects include "Suite for Bassoon and Computer," first art project in Russia using satellite connection; "Cosmic Bridge Moscow - Paris" with prof. Fred Forest; and "Lyrics and Music " - original compositions written for poets and writers: Andrej Bitov, Dmitrij Prigov, Lew Rubinstein, Uwe Dick, Jaap Blonk performed in Karlsruhe, Munich, Innsbruck, Rosenheim, St Petersbourg, Moscow, Amsterdam, London, N.Y. and elsewhere.
