Aribisala, Tosin

Aribisala, Tosin , drummer; b. Ibadan, Nigeria, 22 June 22 1978. His father was a music fan and Tosin loved music from the age of 2, discovering the drums, at the age of 9, from the church. After graduating from high school, he took private lessons on rudiments and music reading, and in later years continued to study. He performed with various bands and styles around Nigeria. At 20, he joined Femi Kuti and the Positive Force, with which he recorded and toured the world for two and a half years. He came to the U.S in January 2001. Since about 2000 he has lived in Laurel, Maryland, performing and recording with various bands, including a tribute cd to Fela Kuti titled Red Hot Riot. He also teaches privately.
