Evans, Sandy (Sandra Janette)

Evans, Sandy (Sandra Janette), tenor, soprano, flute; b. Sydney, Australia, 29 June 1960. Member of the group Great White Noise in early 80's.  Graduated jazz studies course at Conservatorium in 1983.  Formed Women & Children First, composing most of the music.  In '86-'87 studied in New York and Germany and worked UK/Europe until rejoining Ten Part Invention early '88.  In recent years has performed worldwide with Clarion Fracture Zone, Mara!, austraLYSIS, The Catholics.  Performed in India in '96 with The Australian Art Orchestra.  Won 'Mo' Award for 1995 Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year.

Also works in John Pochee's band Ten Part Invention since its founding in 1986.
