Fumero, Horacio "Isoca"
Fumero, Horacio "Isoca", bass; b. Canada Rosquin, Argentina 10 May 1949 (or 5 October). His parents are Alfredo Fumero (1912-1952) and Carmen Ramirez (1917-1997). His brother Hugo, who lives in Buenos Aires, is a guitar player. Horacio studied at the Conservatorio Municipal M. de Falla (Buenos Aires) 1970-1973 with Hamlet Grecco; Conservatoire Superieur de Musique de Geneve, Switzerland with Amand Dewaele1973-1978; and Armonia de Jazz with Santiago Giaccobbe, Buenos Aires 1969-1972.
In 1973, he did a tour in Europe with Gato Barbieri. He lived Geneve until 1979. In 1980, he moved to Barcelona ,Spain. From 1981 to 1997, he was a component of the late (1933-1997) Tete Montoliu Trio. He had the chance to play with the best jazz musicians touring in Europe, like Freddie Hubbard , Johnny Griffin , Horace Parlan , Sweets Edison, Sal Nestico , Dick Oatts, Idris Mohamad, George Cables , Woody Shaw, etc. He also performed with Lalo Schiffrin and Jazz at the Philarmonic. He is a Professor at the Escola Superior de Musica de Catalunya (ESMUC).
He has recorded over of 50 records with Charlie Mariano, Tete Montoliu, Frank Strazzieri,Gato Barbieri, Bill Perkins, Gerard Prescencer, Peter King, etc. The CD of Adrian Iaies, Tango Reflections, a duo, piano and bass, was nominated to the Grammys in 2002.
He's married with two kids, Mateo, 17, a trumpet player, and Lucia, 12, a pianist.
