Hagenbach, Angela (M. Washington, Bell)

Hagenbach, Angela (M. Washington, Bell), jazz vocalist; b.  Kansas City, MO, 7 March 1956 at Queen of the World Hospital at about 7:00 am to Leslie & EmmaJean (Foster) Washington. She basically lived in Kansas City all her life with the exception of three years.

She was critically acclaimed for her debut recording Come Fly With Me. In 1995 she was featured on another disc featuring latin jazz, Musa Nova; and in 1996 released her second solo recording   Feel The Magic. "Blessed with impeccable pitch, Angela covers her full two and one-half octave range with ease, clarity and effortless agility" writes John Leisenring, PitchWeekly. Hagenbach's moves easily within all jazz styles, but she excels in her interpretations of "torch" songs and latin music. Her sultry contralto voice offers a rich palette of colors from which to choose.

Hagenbach's talents are beginning to put her in the international spotlight for the second time.  In the mid-1980's she built a successful career as a professional model that took her to the fashion capitals of the world. Now, back in Kansas City, she works regularly as voice talent, performing commercials and jingles for radio and television. Her professional music career was launched in 1990, and by 1996, she began publishing original compositions through her publishing company, Eden's Gate Music/ASCAP. These originals are among the featured recordings on her own label, AMAZON Records. Hagenbach performs in every major Jazz venue in the Kansas City area. Some special appearances include: National Anthem for the Kansas City Chiefs & Royals; Kansas City's Great Female Vocalist Series; Oscar Night at the Midland; Kimball Hall Concert Series, Lincoln, Nebraska; Brownville Concert Series, televised for national distribution, by  Nebraska NETV; and Aspen Jazz at Snowmass, hosted by Herbie Hancock with special guest Wynton Marsalis.
