Honda, Toshiyuki
Honda, Toshiyuki, alto, soprano saxophonist, flutist; b. Tokyo, Japan, 9 April 1957. His father was the jazz critic and broadcaster Toshio (not Toshiyuki) Honda.
He taught himself to play saxophone and flute, in 1976 joined a sextet led by the drummer George Otsuka, and the following year formed the group, Burning Wave; he also played with Kazumi Watanabe and wrote arrangements for Tatsuya Takahashi's album, Beauties (1985. He writes film soundtracks, as well, including Juzo Itami's 1987 international hit, A Taxing Woman.
