Hunt, John (E.)

Hunt, John (E.), trumpet, flugelhorn; b. Jackson, TN, 15 August 1939.

He began playing piano at age 10, then changed to trumpet at age 12.  Played in the Merry High School Band and later in the Tennessee State University Band in Nashville, TN. Moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in the mid-sixties where he played with pianist, Ermond Hubbard and Carl Hines. 

Moved to New York in the late sixties to go join the John 'Spider' Martin Band, a Tenor Saxophonist, formerly with Lionel Hampton. Left New York for St. Croix, U.S, Virgin Islands in 1970, where he worked with Jimmy Hamilton, formerly with Duke Ellington over the next twenty years.  He played jazz with Quintets in cities such as, Dallas, TX; Philadelphia, PA; and Atlanta, GA.

He's currently the band leader of a Jazz Quintet formed in 1996 named the Jazz All Stars.
