Maltz, Larry (Lawrence Steven)

Maltz, Larry (Lawrence Steven), guitar; b. Orange, NJ, 1 October 1956. He's a graduate of William Paterson University (BA Jazz Performance, 1980). His parents are Lenore Maltz (b. 1925) and Seymore Maltz (1919-1969). His wife is Patricia, his daughter is Sarah (cello and piano), and his son is Evan (violin).

Maltz has studied under Bob Devos (Sonny Stitt etc.) from 1975-1979 and Harry Leahey (Phil Woods etc.) from 1980-1982. Since the seventies Larry Maltz has performed and recorded with numerous small Jazz groups, Rhythm and Blues bands, Bluegrass/Country, show bands as well as solo venues. He has appeared with many club and society bands including Jerry Vivino (Conan O'Brien Show), Cabot Scott, Craig Scott, Sister and Brother, Roy Crosse, Diane Moser, Mario Rodriguez (Gato Barbieri) etc.

Anthony Ingemi: The Ocean (1997); Carlos Francis: Good Vibes at the 12th Circle; Roy Crosse: A Taste Of Latin; Diane Mosers Composers Big Band: Live at Tierneys; Larry is currently working on a his own release as well as a Jazz guitar duo CD with guitarist Flip Peters.
