Pantoja, Rique (

Pantoja, Rique (PAULO HENRIQUE PANTOJA LEITE), composer, arranger, keyboardist, singer, producer and songwriter; b. Rio de Janeiro, NOV 6TH , 1955.

In Rio he worked extensively as pianist/musical director/arranger for some of the top pop artists. After 3 years at the Berklee College of Music (Boston) and another year studying privately, he moved to Paris where for 2 years he worked on a number of projects. Currently based in L.A., Rique's credits range from projects and performances with such renowned artists as Ernie Watts, Chet Baker, Lee Ritenour, Ricky Martin, Carlos Santana, Sadao Watanabe, Yasuko Agawa, Kirk Whalum, George Kim, Christopher Parkening, Helen Baylor, Brenda Russel, Marisela, Luis Conte, Abraham Laboriel, Justo Almario, Frank Gambale, Richie Garcia, Russ Miller, Dave Weckl , Steps Ahead, Milton Nascimento, Ivan Lins, Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Joao Bosco, Cama de Gato, Gonzaguinha, Paulinho da Viola, Chico Buarque, Tim Maia, Martinho da Vila, Beth Carvalho, Barao Vermelho, Alcione and others.

Among some of his recent accomplishments, a European Tour with his trio, a collaboration cd project with Christian singer Tommy Walker and the cd production of Brazilian gospel songwriter Bene Gomes. Two of Rique's compositions for classical guitar were performed on Parkenings' 2000 world tour. He performed at the NAMM 2000, and was part of the Maranatha Worship Workshop Series throughout the US.

Pantoja appears on the Yamaha 2000 cd presenting their new instrument line as well as on the M-Audio 2003 cd. Endorsements with Emagic Logic and M-Audio.
