Peck, Dave (David Allan)

Peck, Dave (David Allan), composer and pianist; b. Tacoma, WA, 29 August 1954. His parents are Dr. Robert Peck and Lylia Peck. His spouse is Jane Peck.

Dave was a composition major at University of Oregon. Dave has been pianist and composer for legendary saxophonist Bud Shank since 1985. During Dave's career he has been heard as a sideman with many great musicians including, Chet Baker, Joe Williams, Sonny Stitt, Lee Konitz, Art Farmer and Clifford Jordan, Harry "Sweets" Edison and Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Howard Roberts, Ernestine Anderson, Gary Peacock, Pete Christleib, Bob Cooper, Bill Perkins, John Clayton and Jeff Hamilton, Freddy Hubbard, and Claudio Roditi.

His arranging and composition credits include grants from Meet the Composer and commissions for Bud Shank, Marco Silva, Syzygy, Composers and Improvisers Orchestra, Ernestine Anderson and Diane Schuur.

Dave is currently Associate Professor of Music at Cornish College of the Arts where he teaches Jazz Ensemble, Composition, Repertoire, Improvisation and Piano.

All of his recent releases are in regular rotation on jazz radio. Dave's playing and compositions have been heard on Public Radio's Jazz Alive, Jazz Journal, New Jazz Northwest, and on VH1 and Canadian Broadcast Television.  His music is featured internationally on jazz radio and he is a regular on Jazz After Hours on PRI radio and Northwest Jazz on KPLU FM.
