Santillan, Julia (A.)
Santillan has studied at Instituto Superior de Musica (Argentina) and then graduated from Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA). He received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, the Arif Mardin Award and the Contemporary Writing and Production Achievement Award. He has recorded and performed with many musicians from Argentina, Boston and New York including Cesar Isella, Oscar Stagnaro, Raul Carnota and Sandra Mihanovich. As an arranger he has worked with artists from all over the world Since 1998 Julio leads "Los Changos" (trio & septet) a group that performs his own compositions. The group has released two cds. Julio Santillan (father), was born in Tucuman, Argentina, December 10th., 1949. He studied Agriculture Engineer and later he got a major in Philosophy. He is an amateur guitarist and he was Julio's first music teacher. Noemi J. Stagnetto (mother), was born in Tucuman, Argentina, September 5th., 1951. She studied Arts but dedicated her life to writing poetry. Lucina I. Santillan (sister), was born in Tucuman, Argentina, February 3rd., 1975. She is an aerobic instructor. Jeronimo Santillan (brother), was born in Tucuman, Argentina, August 16th.,1982. He is also a musician. He plays bass. He's had performances with Oscar Stagnaro & Peru Mestiso, Sandra Mihanovich, Cesar Isella, Raul Carnota, Ben Monder, Chris Cheek, Fernando Huergo, Franco Pinna, Bernardo Baraj, Lalo de Los Santos, Pablo Ablanedo Octet, Fernando Isella & Makanudos, Gian Carlo Buscaglia & Balaton, Manuel Santos & Bambule, Patricia Vlieg, Lucho Hoyos, Marta Gomez, Tami Machnai, Analia Selis, In The House, Blues Food, Kilombo Mambo, Ambar Quartet, Katie Viqueira, Claudio Ragazzi and Los Changos. He's made recordings with Oscar Stagnaro, Pablo Ablanedo Octet, Gian Carlo Buscaglia, Manuel Santos & Bambule, Patricia Vlieg, Marta Gomez, Victor Buey, Asa Renefelt, Analia Selis, Tami Machnai, Santiago Greco, and Los Changos. He's written compositions and arrangements for Los Changos Trio, Los Changos Septet, Pablo Ablanedo Octet, Fer Isella & Makanudos, Marta Gomez, Analia Selis, Coro de la Provincia de Tucuman, Gian Carlo Buscaglia, Victor Villadangos, Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra, Victor Buey and Sandra Mihanovich.
