Shimizu, Jun

Shimizu, Jun, drummer; b. Kobe, Japan, Feb. 27, 1928.  additions: played in Hawaiian band in college.  He was a bebop drummer in Japan in 40s and 50s.  Performed in Akiyoshi's Cozy Quartet and in Shotaro Moriyasu's group. Bowed out of jazz to fight heroin addiction.  Started playing again in the 80s, with Sera Yuzuru and others.
