Takase, Aki
Takase, Aki, pianist, composer, b. Osaka, Japan, 26 January 1948.
After graduating from Domei as a piano major, Takase made her pro debut with saxophonist Yoshio Otomo in 1971, and moved to the US. She returned to Japan in 1976, dropped out of the scene for a year due to illness, and returned to play with Masahiko Hino and other artists. In the early 1980s she began touring the European festival circuit; since 1986 she has lived in Germany and earned an international reputation as a recording artist for Enja.
