Encyclopedia of Jazz Musicians
Zach, Ingar, drums/percussion; b. Oslo, Norawy, 29 June 1971. He has been dedicated to improvised music and folk music for the last five years and he is now touring and recording with his regular ensembles but also different projects in Europe and USA. He founded the Norwegian label for improvised music, SOFA, together with guitar player, Ivar Grydeland in May 2000.
His currant working ensembles are Tri-Dim with saxophone player Hakon Kornstad (N) and guitar player David Stackenas (S); Ingar Zach/Ivar Grydeland (N) duo; No Spaghetti Edition (N), an improvising ensemble consisting of Norwegian and internasjonal improvisers; Derek Bailey (UK)/Ingar Zach duo; Hiss (N) with Ivar Grydeland and bass player Tonny Kluften(N), Pat Thomas (UK); Wazahugy with Philipp Wachsmann (UK), Charlotte Hug (SUI) and Ivar Grydeland (NO); Rhodri Davies (UK)-harp/Ingar Zach; Jon Balke/Batagraf And Magnetic North Orchestra; and Looper with Nikos Veliotis(GRE) -cello and Martin Kuchen(S)-saxophones. He is and has also been working with: Jim O'Rourke, Barry Guy, Evan Parker, Axel Dorner, Kevin Drumm, Thomas Lehn, Johan Berthling, Raymond Strid, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Susie Ibarra, Jaap Blonk, Mats Gustafsson, Annette Krebs, Andrea Neumann, Phil Minton, Michel Doneda and Giuseppe Ielasi.
