Zielke, Rolf (Rainer)
Zielke, Rolf (Rainer), piano, composition; b. Hameln, Germany, 22 July 1964. His parents are Helmut and Margrit Zielke (Profession: Baker). Zielke studied Jazz and Classical music from 1985 - 1989 in Hannover (Jazz with O. Wolters; Classical Music with B. Goetzke). After graduating, he made concert tours through Germany, many European and Mediterranean countries, South-East Asia, to the USA, South America and Polynesia with different groups and received various music prizes.
Since 1997 he lives in Berlin (Germany) and works also as a teacher for jazz piano at the music academies in Berlin ("Hanns Eisler" and "UdK"). Rolf Zielke worked and performed with Charlie Mariano, Krzesimir Debski, Mike Stern, Bireli Lagrene, Benny Baily, Jiggs Whigham, Red Holloway, "RIAS" Big Band Berlin, Thomas Quasthoff, Ed Schuller, Sergej Starostin (,,Moscow Art Trio"), Kaigai-Ool Khovalyg ("Huun-Huur Tu"), Nahawa Doumbia, Abdu Daghir, Bill Ramsey, Angelika Milster, Gitte Haenning and others.
He's married to the classical singer Kathrin Hofmann (now Zielke). They have three kids: Ida, Greta and Felipa.
